Ireland's Animals synopsis

Old Ireland was a healthy place like this, no poisonous plant could grow, and cattle had to be controlled from over-eating if it exploded! In the ancient Irish myth it was not St. Patrick who expelled the snakes from Ireland, but Moses! A frog was predicted by Norman's victory in Ireland; the last wolf was murdered in Ireland in Carlo in 1786; a cure for burns had to be wiped out by someone who had licked an orchid.

This collection of folklore, legends, and history of animals in Ireland includes descriptions of their relationships with people and the pursuit of food, fur, sport or insects and their status today. The ways and timing of non-native animals in Ireland are discussed and how the boundaries between wild animals and pets are more ambiguous than people realize.

The book concludes with a fictional section inspired by animal transformation stories, twelve animals, how we can imagine ourselves having their own qualities, enriching our lives and dealing with situations differently.
