Cambridge Texts in the History of Philosophy synopsis

Nietzsche's late works are fascinating and uncompromising, and stand as traces of his exposure, accuracy and style. This volume, for the first time in English, combines five of these works: The Antichrist, Ecce Homo, Twilight of the Idols, Nietzsche contra Wagner and The Case of Wagner.

Here, Nietzsche takes some of his greatest adversaries: traditional religion, contemporary culture, and above all his one-time hero, composer Richard Wagner. His writings at the same time are decisive and creative, and put his alternative philosophical vision into practice, which, after more than a hundred years, still retains an amazing novelty and boldness.

These new translations aim to capture something of the style and rhythm of the original German language, so that the reader can get a sense of not only a philosopher, but also a brilliant artist, able to "dance with his pen" and an inappropriate time as he claims to be.
