Cambridge Tracts in Mathematics synopsis

The theory of standard forms, especially the so-called "Ramanujan guesses," was applied to solve problems in software, computer science, analysis and number theory. This course, based on Wittemore lectures at Yale University, is designed to describe some of these applications. In order to maintain reasonably independent submission, Professor Sarnak begins by developing the necessary basic materials in standardized formats.

The problem of Ruziewicz is related to fixed initial fixed ball measures; the obvious construction of highly interrelated but sporadic graphs: "extended graphs" and "Ramanujan graphs"; and Linnik's problem of parsing integer integers Defined as a sum of three squares. These applications are implemented in detail.

The book must therefore be available to a wide audience of graduate students and researchers in mathematics and computer science.
