In this book, Klein seeks to develop an evaluation model that can help colleges, universities and communities provide stronger results for students looking for a career in dance. From an overview of the historical development of dance and dance education in the United States, this book closely examines the current cultural, educational and political structures, functions, and mechanisms that influence the prevailing public views of this artistic form in mainstream American life. These basic frame views topics in the field of post-secondary dance education in relation to curriculum, education, and professional career definitions.

The analysis and interpretation of this research is filtered through a specific lens, in order to discover effective and ineffective principles and practices within the three institutions examined, which can be applied to the development of high success rates in employment among graduate students of future programs.
