Comprehensive Clinical Audits of Diagnostic Radiology Practices synopsis
Interest in quality assurance processes and quality improvement in diagnostic radiography is stimulated by a number of factors. These include the high cost and complexity of radiation equipment, the recognition of the possibility of increased doses for patients, and the importance of radiological diagnosis to patient management within the health care environment.
To recognize these concerns, clinical reviews were introduced, and in Europe, delegated under a European Directive (Council Directive 97/47 / EURATOM). Comprehensive clinical audits focus on management, clinical infrastructure, patient procedures, technology, education and research.
This publication includes an organized set of appropriate radiographic standards, an audit manual for clinical review, and data collection sheets for the rapid production of reports in audit cases. It will serve as a useful guide to radiographic diagnostic facilities that wish to improve patient services through timely diagnosis with minimal radiation dose..
