This work presents the first 500 books from more than 2000 documents by Robert I. Burns from the Jaume the Conqueror records in the Crown archives in Barcelona - the finest archives of this type outside the papal chain, and the first wide use of paper by a European government.

The second volume of four volumes of planned documents, which together with the introduction of the first volume, will form a unique collection of material about Valencia, its place in the enlarged Europe, and its post-invasion by Jaume of Aragon-Catalonia, Christian settlers rule the Muslim majority and a large Jewish population. The second volume provides a wealth of information about this border society during the six years of the final truce and the initial European (1257-1263). By reading many ideas about the military, religious, economic, legal, bureaucratic and social development of the region, the documents became accessible to a large number of readers through the extensive rewording that was originally published in 1991.
