Paradoxically, the philosophy of love has long been neglected by philosophers, called "lovers of wisdom," who seem to need to understand how one can become a lover. In his book Kierkegaard and philosophy of love, Michael Strawser showed that the philosophy of love lies at the heart of Kierkegaard's writings, arguing that the central issue of Kierkegaard's writing can and must be understood more broadly as a task to become a mistress.

Strawser begins by identifying questions (how can I love the other, how can I love God?) And the topics (immediate love, purposefulness, loneliness and immortality) that are central to the philosophy of love and develop a rich context that includes analyzes of existing love concepts In Plato, Spinoza and Hegel, as well as prominent modern thinkers. Strawser offers an extensive and original analysis of the writings of Kierkegaard - from the early concept of sarcastic concepts and the realization of late letters to the Moment, while preserving the importance of the works of love - to show how the writings of Kierkegaard on love are relevant to the emerging study of love philosophy today.

But the most unique view of this work is Strouzer's argument that Kirkgard's writings on love are fruitfully understood in the context of the phenomena of love. In the interpretation of Kierkegaard as a geologist of love, Strawser claims that it is not Husserl and Heidegger that we must look for a link in the first place but rather Max Scheler, Dietrich von Hildebrand, Emmanuel Levinas, and most importantly, Jean-Luc Marion, Thinking of the apparent nature of love.

Based on an analysis of the works of these thinkers alongside Kirkgard's writings, Strouzer argues that Kirkgard offers readers the first phenomena of love, a view that serves as a common perspective in this work, while also pointing to areas for future scholarship. In general, this work brings seemingly different perspectives into a unity that is created by focusing on love, which is ultimately a unified force..
