Literacy and Development synopsis
Literacy and development is a set of case studies for literacy projects around the world. The contributors provide in-depth studies on the daily uses, literacy and literacy programs developed to strengthen them.
On the grounds that ethnographic research can and should disseminate literacy policy in developing countries, the book expands the current theory and contributes to policy-making and program-building. A large sector of society is covered, with literacy classes for women in Pakistan, Ghana and the countryside in Mali, literacy in the village of Iran, and literacy project for the "older people".
This international group includes case studies from: Peru, Pakistan, India, South Africa, Bangladesh, Mali, Nepal, Iran, Eritrea and Ghana.
