Logic and System synopsis
This book will examine one of the oldest problems in understanding what Hegel is trying to do. What is the place of logic in the Hegelian system? How did Hegel see the relationship between "pure thought" and its origins or applications in our many forms of experience? A new approach to this old question has been adopted.
This book will examine Hegel's study of what I consider to be the earliest "explanations" of pure thinking, that is, the way we find our thinking in language and the way in which philosophical truths are expressed in religious discourse. The introduction will refer to the problem and approach.
The introduction will examine three recent works at Hegel and suggest how to advocate the type of study proposed here. There was a time when Hegel read as the source of all wisdom, a time also when he was treated only as a ridiculous occasion.
Both now. The attitude of metaphysicians is more cautious, than their more receptive opponents.
Each party is better prepared to allow those who have a secure place in the history of philosophy to talk about themselves and reveal their achievements and limitations. In this atmosphere there is a special reason, on both sides, to study Hegel. No one has made such extreme claims because of metaphysical thought and has developed it widely and systematically.
No one has asked more than one generation to criticize this thought.
