Malick Sidibe synopsis
A unique document on the financial community and an important testimony to the desire for freedom and enthusiasm of younger generations. Malik Sidibe (Soloba, 1936, Mali) is the most important photographer living in Africa.
Lives and works in Bamako. In 2007, the Venice Biennial of Art honored him with the Golden Lion.
In 2003, he won the Hasselblad Award in 2008 for the ICP Infinity Award, in 2009 for the PhotoEspana - Baume & Mercier Award, and in 2010, the World Press Picture of the Year in Arts and Entertainment. The book, mostly unedited, from the 1960s and 1970s: from studio pictures in the purest African tradition, to the reportage on the night life in Bamako, carried out during the early years of his country's independence.
