During the 20th century, Lincolnshire ports provided five fish eaten in Britain. In the 1970s this changed as a result of the cod war with Iceland due to a dispute over inland fishing rights.

New technology such as satellite navigation, sonar and mechanical jacks also played its role. The fleet became smaller and changed direction.

From smaller local ports. Kalashripis, centered on the Oyster Bed, Friston Beach on Gambrian, Soles and Spartan and Boston on flasks of the washes.

A new type of fishing vessel was developed and named after football clubs, and joined the Cat Boat category, launched in 1957 and called by the children of the local Grimsby school.
