Microbiological Analysis of Food and Water synopsis
With the help of QC specialists in Europe, a complete set of guidelines has been prepared on how to start and apply the quality system in the microbiology laboratory, with the support of the European Commission through the measurement and testing program. The working group included microbiologists in food and water from various laboratories for testing, universities and industry, as well as statisticians and QA and QC specialists in chemistry.
This book contains the results of their work. It has been written with the quick goal of using simple but precise wording so that all laboratory staff can access it.
To facilitate reading, the most specialized elements, especially some statistical treatments, were added as an annex to the book. All qualityassurance and quality control tools mentioned in these guidelines have been developed and applied by authors in their own laboratories.
All aspects of reference material handling and inter-laboratory studies have been taken in a large part of the projects conducted within the BCR and measurement and testing programs of the European Commission. With many different quality control procedures, it seems that putting them into the laboratory is a huge task.
The authors understand that each laboratory manager will choose the most appropriate procedures, depending on the type and size of the laboratory in question. Accreditation bodies will not expect to introduce all measures, only those appropriate for a particular laboratory.
Features of this book: * Gives all qualityassurance procedures and control to be taken, from sampling to expression of results * Provides practical aspects of quality Control is applied to both the analyst and senior management * Describes the use of reference material for statistical control of methods and the use of approved reference materials Statistical tools).
