Multinational Firms synopsis

At the turn of the century, questions about multinational corporations' strategies for power, on the one hand, and regional and local dimensions, on the other, were at the forefront. What are the new constraints and new theories to explain the strategies of multinational multinationals at the beginning of this new age? Understanding the strategies of multinational corporations is an essential task, but the set of strategies is not simple or homogenous.

They are increasingly complex, the results of different logic and different options. Since the 1980s, new economic zones have been created - the European Union, Mercosur, ASEAN, NAFTA - there has also been integration of Eastern European countries after the Iron Curtain was lifted.

These areas witnessed a real movement of regional integration, which modified corporate strategies. But at the same time there was another factor: the global or regional dimension is a crucial factor, but there is also the local dimension, for example in positioning.

This volume presents the work of internationally renowned specialists on the multinational strategy and addresses key questions about globalization. The competitiveness of companies and countries, the impact of regionalism, mass agglomeration and industrialization, oligopolistic interactions, the mode of entry, strategic location selection, resettlement and public assistance.

This book is the first volume to present outstanding works from the Seventh Sorbonne International Conference on Strategies of Multinational Enterprises.
