This book sheds light on how Hezbollah has transformed religious rites and supernatural stories to rally the Shiite community. The author examines how Hezbollah changed its institutional structure and rebuilt the history of the Lebanese Shiites in a manner similar to national movements.

Through fieldwork and research, the project finds that Hezbollah has focused on the concept of the Gaurdanship of the Islamic Jurists: in essence, the absolute authority of the Supreme Leader of Iran over the Shiite "nation".
