This book presents a review of the techniques of image analysis where applied in the field of nuclear medicine diagnostic and therapeutic. This is partly due to the remarkable development of nuclear medicine tools and the wrinkling of computing power and its ready and inexpensive availability, a relatively new and rapidly expanding field.

However, quantitative imaging has only recently emerged as a promising approach to diagnosing and treating many diseases. Therefore, an effort has been made to place the revisions contained in this book in a broader context.

The effort to do so is reflected in the introduction of introductory chapters on the basic principles of nuclear medicine and dual imaging, followed by an overview of issues closely related to quantitative nuclear imaging and its potential role in diagnostic and therapeutic applications. A brief overview of each chapter is provided below.

Chapter I provides an overview of nuclear imaging physics and instruments including flat tomography (CT), single-photon emission (SPECT) and PET (PET). At present, patients are rarely diagnosed and treated without the use of imaging technology.

As such, photographic considerations are included in almost every chapter of the book. The development of dual aging systems is an emerging research field, which is addressed in Chapter II..
