Robinson's Paradigms and Exercises in Syriac Grammar synopsis
It was first published in 1915. E.
Robinson and her Syriac language training to meet the need for "something of primary nature should be of value to the Syriac student for the first time." Since then, the book has met this need for generations of students. The fifth edition of 2002 is still the basis for the selection of many Syriac teachers as well as students who are learning for themselves.
This review, inspired by ten years of experience in university teaching and student feedback, illustrates some of the explanations and grammatical rules. Improvements to fonts and greater formatting make reading easier.
As before, the Western Syriac script and grammatical traditions are followed in the set of lessons, and the appendices add reading in other texts (East and East). The book remains a simple and friendly introduction to this important language..
