The Critical Nexus Tone synopsis

Critical Nispus faces an important and angry mystery of early writings on music: why it was necessary to change the chant, which was understood as divine inspiration, to work within the parochial system at the time. To uncover this mystery, Charles Atkinson creates a broad framework that moves from Greek compatibility theory to the various stages in the transmission of Roman chanting, citing numerous musical interviews from the 6th to the 12th centuries.

Coming out of this examination highlights the central point behind the problem: the tone system supported by the writers coming from the Greek consensus tradition was not appropriate to observe the cheering, and that this fundamental contradiction led to the creation of new theoretical structures. By tracking the subsequent adaptation of the tone, status, and interpretation system, Atkinson has long-term insights into the intended method of the medieval musician and how the system responded to its inherent predecessors.

Through a detailed examination of the major musical theses from the sixth to the twelfth centuries, this text establishes a central dualism between the classic harmonics theory and the practices of the Christian Church. Atkinson builds the foundation for a broad and original reinterpretation of the media system and its relevance to melody, grammar and expression.

This book will be of interest to all music scientists, music theorists, early music specialists, cheers, and medieval scholars interested in music.
