This set of papers represents a revised version of the Proceedings of the 9th European Symposium on Metabolism held at the University of Padua, Italy, from 12 to 14 October 2006. As in the symposium itself, this work is united under one umbrella.

Topics dealing with four important metabolic changes: diabetes, obesity, hyperlipidemia and high blood pressure.
