North Shields and Tennmuth today, like most cities and cities, are historical products. Shops, offices, residential areas, transport and recreation facilities are the result of commercial and political decisions of the past and the near past.
However, for each development plan that has been built, much, if not more, has been proposed, but it has not been activated. Some of the proposals were highly motivated, making little financial or practical sense.
Others were reasonable ideas, but they were unpopular locally or there was no money or political motivation to build these ideas. This book explores some schemas that did not occur.
These are development and redevelopment plans that, for one reason or another, have never come to fruition, but now give us a glimpse of North Shields and Tennmuth as they were.
