J. McLaurin, who worked as a journalist at Harrisburg Telegram, witnessed the flood directly and managed to write about it.
His detailed account is illustrated with animated images of flood debris and its consequences. It is also accompanied by a history of the area of the colonial period, which consider the settlement and development of the early town, the Cambria Iron Company, and the construction of the damaged south fork bridge on the Conemaugh River.
