Theories of International Relations synopsis
This book is a comprehensive guide to theories of international relations (IR). Given the limitations of the model-based approach, it highlights eighteen new theoretical theories and theories in infrared by studying the work of the main reference theorists.
All chapters are written to a shared template. The introductory section provides readers with a basic understanding of the emergence of theory by locating it in an intellectual tradition, with special attention to the historical and political context.
The second section explains the theory as formulated by the selected reference perspective. After this calculation of the basic elements of theory, the third section turns into theoretical differences, examines conceptual divisions and overlaps, and further developments and internal criticism.
Section IV Audit the main criticisms emanating from other theoretical perspectives and points of contact with recent research in infrared. The fifth and final section consists of a carefully collected bibliography to help students learn more.
This book includes a wide range of traditional theories, as well as emerging and critical perspectives, a basic and fascinating book for students of international relations. The German edition of the book won the award "Geisteswissenschaften International", which was jointly awarded by the Fritz Thyssen Foundation, the German Federal Foreign Office, the German publishers and book publishers.
