Tug of War synopsis

The conflicts in Eurasia have received considerable attention in the last few years from political scientists and scientists in international relations. The geographical area of Eurasia is located at the intersection of conflicts and global and regional coordination games.

On the one hand, regional differences in Eurasia often affect relations between superpowers on a global scale - for example, Russia believes that it is engaged in a clash with the United States and its allies in Eurasia beyond the Soviet Union by blocking the EU and US policies In its neighborhood, Moscow is not only protecting its security interests but also hastening the demise of the US-based global order. On the other hand, global competition can either exacerbate tensions or facilitate Eurasia negotiation solutions, mostly as a result of the competitive behavior of major powers in conflict mediation.

Few scientists have focused on the negotiation process or have assembled a variety of seemingly uneven but comparable issues. This volume, edited by two international security experts - one from Canada and one from Russia - examines the negotiations that continue after the "hot phase" of the conflict and the focus is on the search for lasting security solutions.

The tug-of-war game combines conflict and security experts from Russia, Eurasia and the West to address the overall question: How useful is the negotiating process in resolving and mitigating the various conflicts and problems of coordination in Eurasia compared to attempts to exploit or achieve a decisive advantage over one's adversaries?
