This book is about international students from Asia studying in American universities in the age of globalization. He explores important questions, such as: Why do they want to study in America? How do they make their overall choices? To what extent are students integrated with local students, and what are the barriers to group friendship? How do faculty and administrators in US institutions respond to the changing mobility on the campus and classroom with a growing student body from Asia? Have we provided them with the skills they need for professional success? As they prepare to become the educational, administrative and regulatory elites of the world, do Asian foreign students plan to stay in the United States or return home? Asian students make up more than 70 percent of all international students. Almost all major American universities now face unprecedented growth in enrollment from Asian students. However, American universities rarely study whether they really understand the experiences and needs of these students.
