Small fusion fusion devices have played and continue to play an important role in fusion research. Thanks to their small size, flexibility and low operating costs, they can support scientific and technological developments, model analysis, training and education. This publication presents the results of a coordinated IAEA research project on the use of a network of small magnetic fusion devices in major fusion research and reports on research work undertaken under the project.

The contribution of these devices is presented in a wide range of fields such as plasma restriction and energy transfer, plasma stability in different magnetic configurations, plasma disturbance and its effect on local and global plasma parameters, and processes at the plasma and plasma edge.
