Wilhelm II synopsis
Kaiser Wilhelm II (1859 - 1941) ruled the German Empire since his accession in 1888 to his forced abdication in 1918 at the end of the First World War. The book, based on a wealth of previously unpublished archival material, provides the most detailed accounts ever for the first half of his reign.
Then, in his young book Wilhelm (1998), written by the author, the volume showed the arrogance of the ruling king and the massive assault he inflicted on his people, where he, step by step, built his personal power. His thirst for glory, his arrogant nationalism, his militarism, and his passion for the Navy gave impetus to a long-term goal: to turn the German Reich into the world's foremost force.
Soon the expected consequences - the constitutional crisis at home and the diplomatic isolation abroad - began to show its disturbing appearance.
