Yovell emerged in the 19th century as a major center for the manufacture of gloves. By the early 20th century it was dominated by the defense industry, making it the target of German bombers during World War II.

Between 1940 and 1942 more than 100 high-explosive bombs fell on the town, damaging thousands of buildings. Despite the turbulent past of the city, I managed to preserve a wealth of architectural treasures from every age to enjoy. Yeovil's 50 building is celebrating some of these stories and related stories.

From the Great Don's House to the Odeon Cinema inspired by the art of deco, we will follow a timeline inspired by Yeovil through brick and mortar where the local author and historian Bob Osborne takes the reader on a tour of the architectural heritage of the city.
