Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small values stored by a browser for a website. Local storage, pixels and similar technologies can also remember choices or measure activity. This page describes the current BookEpub application and explains the additional choices needed if advertising is introduced. It is not a request to accept optional tracking.
What the current site uses
| Purpose | Where and why | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| Public catalogue | The public catalogue and policy pages do not start a Laravel session or set a BookEpub session or CSRF cookie. Search uses a URL parameter, not a stored reader profile. | No application cookie for ordinary public browsing. |
| Administration | Restricted administration uses a session cookie and a CSRF token to protect administrative actions. These are not advertising cookies. | The configured administrative session is 120 minutes of inactivity. Security and session behaviour may also depend on the browser. |
| Advertising and analytics | No Google AdSense, analytics tag or advertising consent cookie is currently installed in this application. | Not active. |
Hosting security services or an externally loaded resource may have separate practices. A third-party image or script can receive technical request information even without a cookie. See the privacy policy for the distinction between our application, hosting logs, external resources and linked websites.
If advertising is introduced
Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies, browser identifiers or pixels for ad selection, frequency controls, measurement and fraud prevention. Personalised advertising can use earlier visits to this or other websites. Non-personalised advertising may also use cookies and personal data.
Before optional tracking is activated where consent is required, the website must present the applicable consent choices. For Google advertising in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, this includes a Google-certified consent management platform where required. A simple custom “Accept cookies” banner does not replace that requirement. Active vendors, purposes and available storage information must be described in the consent interface. Rejecting optional purposes and revisiting or withdrawing a choice must be available as applicable.
Controls available now
Your browser can show, block or delete cookies and site data. Deleting a cookie is different from withdrawing a stored advertising-consent choice; if a consent service is added, use its settings as well. Blocking essential storage can affect restricted administration or external services. It does not turn an unavailable book file into an available download.
